Please join us for the launch of a campaign aimed at making access to medicines an election issue this year. Migraine Foundation Aotearoa NZ is one of 17 organisations supporting this campaign, alongside groups representing people living with cancer, rare diseases and other chronic conditions.

The launch features an installation (called the Forbidden Pharmacy) that showcases medicines on Pharmac’s Options for Investment list that are waiting for funding – including four migraine medications. These, and many other medicines, are safe, effective and funded overseas. The migraine medications were developed specifically to prevent migraine and are recommended as first-line treatment by the American Headache Society.
The Forbidden Pharmacy is stocked with hundreds of medicines that are funded and available in other countries, but New Zealanders can’t access. We want to highlight the urgent need for better access to medicines and to call on the next government to make this a priority.
